WHAT IS REIKI?

Reiki (pronounced Ray-key,) means universal life energy, a system which is non dogmatic, and allows all belief systems to benefit from the knowledge and Reiki technique.  Reiki was re-discovered by Dr Usui, a system believed to have originated in Japan, although various research has uncovered roots of Reiki, in Buddhism, teachings of Jesus Christ, Atlantis healing vocations, Egyptian meditations and ancient know ledges from Lumaria and Sumarian times.  Reiki can be described as the vital energy around and within all living beings.

 Dr Mikao Usui

Dr Mikao Usui (died 1926) after many years of his own research and meditation was inspired to re-create this healing system and spent the rest of his life devoted to the system, teaching and practising.  Dr Usui would heal those unable to work, or begging in the street in order that they could move themselves forward spiritualy and independently, unfortunately Dr Usui discovered that without any receipt of money or bartering the patient would again move back to begging, to receive more energy freely, as this was their independence.  Therefore all Reiki healing and knowledge must be bartered in some acceptable form, initially the price was 10,000 GBP equivalent, for the knowledge to ensure the patient and student to work and make worth while their healing and study commitment.

Today Reiki continues to be taught by Reiki masters who have trained in the tradition, passed down from master to student.

Dr Usui held five precepts, to encourage the spiritual development and positive energy

*Just for today do not worry

*Just for today do not anger

*Honour your parents teachers and elders

  *Earn your living honestly

*Show gratitude to every living thing.
